Parcel Delays at Ukrainian Customs
In recent days, many delivery services, online shops and their customers have run into parcels from abroad being delayed at the Ukrainian border. Let’s look at what is going on!
Shopping in foreign online stores is certainly a convenient and often economical way to shop. But in recent days, Ukrainian customs has stopped letting through parcels with goods ordered abroad. What is the reason?
This is happening on the basis of a list of intellectual property objects included in the customs register. The list includes 1148 international companies. One could be outraged here, but
Ukrainian customs checks all parcels thoroughly, but only counterfeit goods are held!
That is, the register includes those companies that are likely producing counterfeit products, and this happens only at the request of rights holders. According to our data, roughly 70% of counterfeits enter Ukraine through parcels.
Here is how Alexei Vasylenko, Director of the Department for Customs Control Organisation at the State Fiscal Service (DFS), commented on the situation:
«Such restrictions apply only if the product is counterfeit or if its origin cannot be established. All arrivals undergo mandatory inspection, and the rights holder has the opportunity to determine whether the goods are genuine. If counterfeiting is established, the goods do not enter the customs territory of Ukraine».
Natalia Ryazanova, founder of the legal company EXIP, believes that the obstacle to import is precisely counterfeit goods, which violate the rights of original manufacturers and are bought on websites of doubtful reputation.
Remember that when you buy a fake product, you spend your own and often considerable money on something that is not worth it. After all, you can never tell original products from fakes when buying online from dubious sources. And by saving a little, you actually put your health at risk.
